THE EDIT: 04/23

1. HAIM Is Back, Baby!

Well, not quite. But they're gonna be! With a badass tweet earlier this week, the Haim sisters cryptically announced...something. A new single? A NEW ALBUM? Whatever it is, it's coming April 27th. It's been three-and-a-half years since Days Are Gone and HAIM fans are practically foaming at the mouth, so buckle up, people. It's happening.

2. This Kendrick Lamar/Zane Lowe Interview

Holy crap. If you like music at all, you should take the time to watch this interview. Lowe has such a studied understanding of Lamar's music, pulling all he can out of the notoriously tight-lipped rapper. Whether speaking about the making of DAMN., his influences, or even his relationship with Obama, Lamar has a way with words (duh), and hearing him talk about his respect and passion for hip-hop is truly inspiring and downright refreshing.

Lamar on the importance of hip-hop:

This is culture. This is not something you just play with. Get a few dollars and get out. People live their lives to this music. Period. In the hood, they listen to rap every day because it’s the only thing that can relate to their stories and their tribulations. They live and breathe it. You can’t play with this, and you have to take in consideration what you write down on that paper. And if you’re not doing it to say the most impactful shit, or doing it to be the best you can be for the listener, to live their daily lives, what are we doing here?

3. The Dolly Parton College Course

Yes it's true. The country queen herself is the subject of a course at the University of Tennessee. It's called Dolly's America, and it's seriously making me consider getting another degree. The course is, "meant to give students a new way of understanding Appalachia’s modern history and Ms. Parton’s role in it," and it's required reading includes Parton's own book, Dolly: My Life and Other Unfinished Business. I just need to find out if it includes a trip to Dollywood. If so, I'm in.

You can read more about the class and how absolutely amazing Dolly Parton in this New York Times article.

Um. Those capri pants. Those slide sandals. My mom is on a cruise right now and I feel like she is probably dressed and behaving in a very similar manner. I can't stop watching it.
